  1. Thanks for the suggestions. As I stated but not clearly enough, I would be using existing speakers. I'm not buying any more unless it's a center as I have 3 sets of speakers in 2 systems now. Too many! John
  2. I've been thinking of getting into HT via existing speakers. Would LaScala's in the front and KG5.2's in the rear be a good match? I would have to get a center speaker. I also have a set of Revel M20's but think the low sensativity wouldn't keep up with the LaScalas. John
  3. Look at what www.knukonceptz.com has to offer. Big, thick, and hundreds of strands for skin effect. John
  4. In a previous thread I stated my system components but left out, the leftovers from putting my present system togther. I was on a buying spree for awhile and have 3 sets of speakers, 2 amps, 2 preamps, and 2 cd players and one old Pioneer analog tuner from the 70's. Anyhoo, I picked up the KG 5.2's while visiting family in Ohio this past Christmas. I wanted to give them a try. (I hand't bought the LaScalas yet, just the Revels.) They sound fine even though they are a 2-way with a passive radiator. They could use more bracing which is the only real downside to them. No, they're not as precise in clarity as the Revels or LaScalas (only slightly) but for the money, they are a steal/deal. For someone on a reciever budget I would think this would be a great deal if you can still find them. Anyway, where did this series fit in to Klipsch's marketing? Was this the budget line? If so I'm very impressed. John
  5. Colin what kind of differnce was there when you placed the heavy tiles on your speakers? Do you have a picture of them posted somewhere for viewing?
  6. I don't believe I've ever read anywhere that tubes give a better bottom end. I don't have a tube seller anywhere near me (Va Beach, Va)so finding a good one on eBay or Audiogon will be difficult as I don't have any direction to go. I do thank all of you for you replies so far. John
  7. Hello all. I have read this forum from time to time over the past year and noted that many of you run tube gear. Will a tube pre-amp and amp make that much of a difference in the sound quality or is it more of a percieved change? My gear consists of: Rega Planet 2000 cd Acurus RL-11 Pre-amp McCormack DNA-125 amp LaScala's and Revel M-20's for speakers I don't belive tube gear would run the Revels well. I swap out between the Klipsch and Revels at odd, long intervals. If the tube gear makes that much of a difference then I might consider selling the Revels. Thank you. John
