You will have something between 12 and 13 AWG (i.e. equivalent wire diameter of 0.0759").

Sorry Charlie! That doesnt add up for wire gauge. I am trying to get it straight myself, but I do know that it takes 9 24AWG wires to equal 15AWG and 27 of them to equal 9AWG.

    Smart choice. 1.gif

Congrats on the new little one. Also thanks for sharing the pics of that outstanding HT setup. Are your curtains in color on Sundays? 2.gif

    Hofy,

From the pic on the Eico website,(The little ad with specs and stuff)the HF-14 appears to have the same looking power and output transformer.

    And I'm sure you can turn a HF-12 into a HF-14, I did.

But be aware that you'll gyp yourselve out of a pre-amp stage.(Which may not be a bad thing.)

From what I can tell they are the same output transformers. I just want to be sure before I get to far into this project.

As far as the preamp, I plan on building my own. I havent decided on what yet though.

  4. Craig, I have looked over the schematics of both the HF12 and HF14 and they look the same to me. Maybe I missed something? I think think they use the same transformers but I cant be sure as I dont have a HF14 in hand to compare.

The HF12 uses an EICO model 30019 power tranny and a 32005 output. If anyone has an HF14 could they please post the tranny numbers? Thanks.

  5. I hope to God that our Justin is not the Justin that I read about on the 30 minute meals forum over at FoodTV.com. From what I read the mom was a regular on that forum and her son(Justin) was in ICU. They removed life support the other day. I pray it was not Justin Scott and pray for the Justin that it was.

  6. me at 6pm Dec31: Dear, What do you have planned for tomorrow?

wife: Nothing much, just want to spend time with you.

me: Can we do that on the way to Milwaukee? (2 hour + drive)

wife: Why are we going there?

me: Speakers that I just bought, we need to go get them.

She was happy. We spent the day together and now she has a nice sounding HT setup.

I am just glad she doesnt venture into my office. I would be a bit pressed to explaing the pile of amps, tubes and other goodies on my bench.9.gif

Radio Shack part # 43-179 (Mini Fone Flasher) will take care of that. 1.gif I find it very handy when I have headphones on.

  8. Crash, Sorry to hear of your loss.

I can relate as my grandmother is like that to me also. She is 86 now and is starting to fade. I know the day will come when she will not be there, but there is no real way to prepare for it.

You and your family will get through this. God bless.

  9. While the Elmore James "Let's Cut It" Is electric chicago Blues, his roots are pure Delta. He was born to a poor black family in Richland Mississippi in 1918. He lived there until he was 19 when his family moved to the Delta town of Belzoni. When he started playing (after R.J.s death) he would hook up with the like of Sonny Boy Williamson and James Williamson.

About as Delta blues as you can get, just a different finished product.

Dang I miss Junior Wells. I had the privilege to see him live more than once and at a private show also. That man could blow harp!
