  1. check out underwoodhifi.com. call walter. he will lead you to the promised land!!!
  2. B&K REF 50 no questions asked. it is a hands down winner. when i got mine my life changed!!!
  3. this post should put you over the edge. in reading all the posts, the most common theme is that B&K is the best for the money. I have tried it all and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you go with B&K you will be happy. I have been using either a yamaha rxv-3000 or a marantz sr-96 for years with the acurus as my power source. make no mistake about it, when i picked up the ref 50 my life changed. i cannot explain in words hos B&K changed my listening experience. marksdad uses the 507 which is a powered av reciever at 150x7. the 507 uses the same technology as the ref 50 preamp but adds the av 125.7 with 150 watts instead. you can't go wrong with b&k.
  4. Clapton live in hyde park. show off your system!!!
  5. if you consider outlaw, visit underwoodhifi.com. walter liederman has some outstanding outlaw & jolida mods which you would be proud of.
  6. LISTEN TO AUDIO NECTAR!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just finished my reference system. I gotta tell you if you can do something like this for around $5k, this will absolutely blow your mind!!! B&K reference 50 preamp Acurus A 125x5 Yamaha DVD-C920 Klipsch RB 5 II Klipsch RC 3 II Klipsch KG 5.2 Klipsch RSW 12 M&K MX-90 Monster M850/950/1000 series interconnects There is nothing like separates. Outlaw Audio makes a great, affordable HT amp as well. I picked up the Acurus as a demo for $600. Jolida is another brand which sounds AWESOME with Klipsch. The great thing about the B&K stuff (ref 20 and 30 are fairly affordable, ref 50 goes for $2100 - $3000 depending on where you buy) is that it is ALL SOFTWARE UPGRADEABLE meaning you will NEVER need to buy another piece of equipment. To simplify, you can use the B&K AVR 507 if you don't want to go w/separates. I have NEVER heard my system sound better. It has evolved with brands such as Rotel, Vandersteen, Yamaha, Denon, Mirage, Monitor Audio, Adcom, and a variety of others. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE, spend the $$$ and go B&K. You WON'T be sorry!!!
  7. Of course B&W emits arrogance. Trust me on this, I have owned Vandersteen, B&W, Monitor Audio, and various mass-produced speakers. The Klipsch reference series competes with them all. The key is what you are driving them with. It's ALL about the power. Your Denon, as good as it is, will simply not reveal the true sound of your speakers. You may also want to consider Jolida. I picked up the Acurus as a demo for $600. TRUST ME, if you build your system similiar to this, you will be the envy of everyone who hears your setup!

Outlaw Audio makes a great, affordable HT amp as well. I picked up the Acurus as a demo for $600. You can do something like this gradually by using your Kenwood as a preamp until get a true HT preamp. You can pick up the reference stuff at many places on the net or tweeter as closeouts. TRUST ME, if you build your system similiar to this, you will be the envy of everyone who hears your setup!
  9. this is coming from a klipsch loyalist, so i hope someone at klipsch sees this: it seems to me a mistake for klipsch to adjust its strategy. although best buy is a logical partner for the synergy series, the reference series will be lost. hi fi buys (tweeter) is a mid fi store or wannabe hi fi store. the true high end audio stores will NEVER accept the reference series as hi fi. maybe the khorns, la scala, heresy, fortes, etc., but NEVER the reference series! i believe the reference series to be the absolute BEST BUY of all speakers I have heard for the money. i considered many options prior to my purchase (jamo, martin logan, monitor audio, vandersteen, b&w, m&k, magnepan, etc.), but the reference series can be had for a fraction of the price. Plus because of the effiency rating, i can power my system with an acurus a125x5!!! there is no need for a 500 wpc amp. although i believe i made an informed decision, i can tell you i will be laughed at next time i go to my hi fi store. these hi fi stores have been bashing klipsch for too long. they will lose credibility with their customers if they promote klipsch.
