  2. hi guys. this is cut and paste from ecost.com (authorized dealer). please note they have these in stock ready to ship. they're also on the "bargain countdown". i have bought several products from ecost.com. they do a fine job. 3. i play in several leagues each year with different rules. never played in one like you describe, but i'm in. how much and i need the password.
  4. i can't say how the denon compares head to head vs. the panny. the older panny's are incredible. the importance of dvd-a and sacd is up to you. it is paramount to me. although i have not heard of 2 channel dvd-a, i'm sure it does sound good. i have the denon 2900 to utilize for dvd-a and sacd. simply put dvd-a is great, but to get the full effect it will cost you. the denon 2200 can be had for around $300. the samsung 841 can be had for $200.

  9. thank you all. i am crystal clear on this now!
  10. although it is not exactly what you are looking for, i believe the channel islands audio vpc1 would do the trick.
  11. when you hook up a universal player to a av preamp/receiver, which component's dac's are utilized with: digital outs (coax/optical) 2 channel analog 6 channel analog (dvd/a) i have heard differing stories regarding this. so someone please set the record straight. the reason i ask is because i am considering getting the zenith 318 to do video, but i know the dac's in my ref 50 are better. so i want to utilize the b&k for audio. likewise i have a denon 5900 on backorder. i believe the dac's in the denon are superior to my ref 50. so i want to use the denon's dac's in that case. i'm sure this is as clear as mud. thanks in advance for your response.
  12. ecost is an authorized denon refurbished dealer. denon will honor warranty. i'm not sure about the 3800 vs. 2900. i just heard a lot of good things about the 2900 so when it popped up i bought it.
  13. denon dvd2900 at ecost.com for $550.
  14. juba, i would love to get an rc-7, but i don't know how it would match my rb-5ii's. i went w/the rc-3ii because the horn matches the rb-5ii.
  15. i have some sa-2's that ROCK. i power them w/an acurus a-150.
  16. heck, i'm a big time amateur compared to you guys. but i have a hybrid jolida (not even the real tube deal) and i'm sold on tubes. can't wait to take the plunge with one of those scotts or maybe even another jolida.
  17. send me the aragon and the b&k. i'll break them in for you.
  18. mine sound better than the day i bought them in 1994.
  19. i'm no expert by any means, but i do have a few thoughts on this subject as i have had similiar problems in the past. first off i believe your problem is your cable company. the response from charter cable was my signal was extremely low. they had someone come out and "turn it up". whatever that means. i found myself having to reset my modem and router continuously (at least twice per day) until they came to my house. i would unplug all connections including power connections, wait about one minute, plug everything back in starting with my wireless router, and cross my fingers to in hope that the reset would take. the resets worked for the first ten or twelve times, then that stopped working. once again my thoughts would be your cable company needs to help you with this one.
  20. i want a universal player. i am considering all options, but i am leaning to the denon dvd 5900 or the marantz dv 8400. anyone got ideas?
  21. alright, so i've read this thread in its entirety. i might as well been reading chinese. what does all this mean to me, the average joe? i look at the chart w/the cornwall and the rb-5. what do the charts say in laymen's terms?
  22. my rotel rb930ax 30 wpc hooked up to some kg 5.2's will run you out of my basement bedroom (18x18).
  23. by the way here are the websites: http://www.ciaudio.com/ http://www.jolida.com/
  24. channel islands is good equipment. i've got their passive preamp. they also make a dac which is quite good as well. i have not heard their monoblocks, but i would assume them to be of great quality. they are pretty affordable at $999 a pair as well. their size is amazing! as for jolida, i am an owner and supporter as well. their products are an amazing value. they are high quality products. if you like the sound of the channel islands, you would be amazed at the sound of a jolida tube. the 202a is 40 watts of tube power for $750 unmodded. the 100a cd player goes for $900 unmodded.
