  1. Does anyone have any preferences as to where to buy a Denon 3803. I, of course am looking for the best price, but if I buy off the Internet, want someone reliable. Any thoughts or horror stories about who is good and who to avoid at all costs? I live in Flagstaff, Arizona. Thanks for any info. Mike
  2. Does anyone have opinions as to whether Burr-Brown DAC's or Analog Devices DAC"s are better? The forer are in the Denon 3803 and the latter in the 4802®. I am trying to decide between the two recievers and thought that the DAC's might make a difference in performance. Thanks Mike
  3. I have a question pertaining to the legend serties. How can the KLF 10 have a better bass rating than the KLF 20, which in turn has a better bass rating than the KLF 30? The KLF 30 has 2 12" Woofers and the KLF 20's and 10's have 10" woofers. What gives. The KLF 30 is rated at 36 Hz, the KLF 20 at 34 Hz, and the KLF 10 is rated at 32 Hz. I know that is not a big difference, but it just does not make sense to this ignorant newbie!! Thanks for any guidance. Mike
  4. Ear: One other question: You wrote: Since it sounds like you have some sub out,you just buy a RCA to dual RCA cable, also called...sub cable(they all have a Y splitter. This way you set and forget,no need to abuse the side gain knob with each level change. Does this means I still attachb the cablke to the tape output? Is this how I set it and forget it? Thanks Mike
  5. Thank you Ear for your reply. I am not sure I understand, though. If I connect the sub to the tape output, I will use a cable with two plugs, right? So, why would I need a y adapter? IS a sub cable differect from a regulat RCA cable? Sorry for the ignorance, this is my first sub. Thanks again for your help. Mikek
  6. Hi ALL: Right now I have a 10 year old Yamaha DSP A970 receiver and just got a RSW 15 Sub. The receiver only has a 1 connector RCA "low pass" output. How do i hook this up to the RSW 15's two inputs? Use a y adapter? I tried just running a cable to the right input of the sub and though I get bass it is not the planet cracking bass that I expected. I guess that I will not get as much sub output as in modern receivers. I have tried it with both music and some DVD's. Will I have to wait until I get my proposed Denon 3803 to really see some bass response? Will that give me the response that I am expecting? By the way, my fronts are Forte II's. Thanks for any help. Mike
  7. Does anyone have experience comparing the sound of the wooden horn Klipschorns versus the metal ones? My wife thinks the wooden horns would make the sound seem more natural and warm compared to the metal horns. Any opinions?? Thanks Mike
  8. Sorry for the mispelling. I of course meant WOODEN! Mike

  10. Hello: I need to refinish my black Forte II's. Nothing serious, just want to sand a few dings and scraps out and refinish the black. My question is: What do I finish them with? Just black paint, or is there a special finish that Klipsch used? Thanks for any help. Mike
  11. I just noticed that an Academy on ebay, soon to end is up to over $500.00 and the high bidder is a user named luchenbach! I thought he was selling not buying? Curious. Mike
  12. Has anyone every put a subwoofer on a speaker stand, or would that just defeat the purpose? Sorry for the ignorant question, but I am thinking of having my new sub off the ground and wonder if it is advisable. Thanks Mike
  13. Sorry for the ignorance, but what does YGM mean? Thanks Mike
  14. Hello: To all you folks here that have Forte II's and Chorus II's, I have a question. How does the bass of the Chorus II's sound versus the Forte II's? I have the Forte II's and love the powerfull bass, but I wonder if the Chorus II's would have even stronger, more powerfull bass, because of the 15" woofer versus the 12" of the Forte II's. The weird thing is that the Forte II specs go lower in the bass than do the specs of the Chorus II's(39 Hz). I know that the spec is not the only rating to go by, but, the Forte II bass spec,at 32 Hz is lower than any Klipsch speaker that I have checked on including the Klipschorn! What gives and please forgive the ignorance, since I am new to all this. Thanks for any opinions. Mike Frankel

  16. Hello: A pair of KG.2's just went up on ebay. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3023263338&category=14991 Hope this helps. Good Luck, Mike
  17. Thanks for the input so far. Where is the mismatch. The KLF 30's and the KLF C-7 should be OK, righty? I choose the RS-7, because of the 8 inch woofers and the high sensitivity, and the Forte's, I had already, and their sensitivity is near thr KLF 30's. The 30's and the Forte's also both have 12 inch woofers. Is it the tweeters and mid range that would be out of whack? Also, if anyone has suggestions on subsitutions, I would eagarly accept the advice. Thanks Again, Mike
  18. How does a setup like this sound: KLF 30 Front KLF C-7 Center RS-7 Side Surrounds FORTE II Rear Surrounds RSW 15 SUB. I have the Forte's, the KLF C-7 and the RS-7's and RSW 15 are on the way. Just have to decide if the KLF 30's would be a good match. The other possibility is a pair of LaScalas. Would that work or just be out of the question? I like things loud and clear! Rock and Classical. Any opinions? I would welcome all comments. Thanks All Mike
  19. EE: I sent you a private email. Did you get it. I am very interested to talk to you about the KLF 30's. Please email me when you can. Thanks Mike drsilkini@hotmail.com

  21. Lyn: Thanks for all your help. Hey everyone, I am still looking for tyhe KLF 30's. Just thought I would let you know. Thanks Mike
  22. Hello: I just wondered want anyone's opinion was on which speaker was more powerful-the KLF 30 or the Forte II. I have a set of Forte II's and love them, but am considering a pair of KLF 30's since I have been told taht their power will "part your hair". I like listening to loud, rock and classical music and love as much bass as possible. The Forte II's nearly knock me over, but if the KLF 30's have even more power, I would consider changing. Thanks for any opinions tendered! Best, Mike
