  1. I need a new center channel. I have Forte IIs for my mains and HAD a KV-2 center channel being powered by a Denon 4802. The center channel recently sounded muted, voices were hard to hear, and I was getting crackling from the tweeter. I tried replacing the tweeter but that did not help. What would be a good center channel to match my system and where is the best place to purchase? Now that Tweeter is not a Klipsch dealer my options for purchase is limited. Within 50 miles from Framingham, MA Perceys is the only dealer for reference speakers. Best Buy does have the Synergys. So online may have to be an option. I was trying to decide between the SC-1, the RC-35, and (dare I say it) the RC-7. The SC-1, I can get at my local Best Buy for $299. Perceys has the Rc-35 for $399 and the RC-7 for $750. I liked the way my old KV-2 sounded so is the SC-1 a small upgrade and I will be satisfied by the sound? For $100 more will I be more impressed with the RC-35? Will the SC-7 blow me away or is it a waste given my Forte IIs? Any places people recommend online I can save some dollars?
  2. I have to compliment the people at my local Tweeter in Framingham, especially Bill. He patiently spent several hours with me on several days. Was not upset at all when I left the first day to say I would think it over and come back. After the sale, his service got even better. When I could not figure out how to get multi zone to work on my Denon 4802, he said he would come over my house on his day off (he lives30 minutes away) to help figure it out. Now Circuit City or Best Buy down the road is another story.
  3. I noticed last night my center channel was sounding muffled and then some cracking coming from the tweeter. My center is a KV-2, mains are Forte IIs and they are being powered by a Denon4802 (a new pruchase). First question is am I over powering this center channel with the 4802? The specs on the KV-2 says 50 watts and the 4802 is putting out a lot more than that. Did I blow the center channel? Could it be just the tweeter that is blown? The original part is a K-89. Is there a replacement? Is it worth replacing or will I just do it all over again? If I need a new center channel which one is a match with the Forte IIs and a 4802. Thanks in advance.
  4. I just had RCN install an HDTV box. It is a Motorola. Same box I had for the 5 days I had Comcast HDTV. The images on the HDTV channel are cropped on the sides. I am viewing on a Panasonic PT53WX52. When I change between aspect ratios it goes between 4:3, zoom, full, and just. All these settings enlarge the image to make 4:3 fill a 16:9 screen. Anyone have any idea on how to view a wide screen program without cropping? Second question. I have the Atkis RC-8000 remote. Before you bash the remote it came with the Denon-4802 and between the Denon, the HDTV, and the Pioneer DV45 there is no money left for a better remote. As I read about these programable remotes it seems there are codes I can download. Can some one explain how and where I can do this? What I would like to do is program a macro on the remote to switch between inputs on the TV. i.e. I hit play DVD and it automatically switches the TV to component 2. Now I have to toggle between all 7 inputs.
  5. I currently have a Denon AVR4802 powering my HT which includes Klipshs all around Forte IIs for the mains. KV2 center, and KG5 rears. I do not currently have a subwoofer. My question is do I need one? The Forte IIs have a 12" woofer and a 15" passive radiator in the rear. I think the bass is indredible. Watching Terminator2 last night, the room was shaking with the explosions. With the Forte IIs would a subwofer add to anything or would it just shift the bass to the subwoofer and not utilize the woofer in the Fortes? If adding a subwoofer is recommended staying with Klipsch what model(s) would be an improvement over my current set up?
  6. I have a Pioneer DV-45A DVD and a Klipsch AVR4802 receiver. When listening to DVD-A or SACD it seems best to use the 5.1 analog audio outs and the Ext in on the Denon. Is this correct? How about for home theater and movies, optical or 5.1 analog? If 5.1 is there any reason to have an optical cable as well?
  7. I purchased a cheap ($35) Radio Shack decibel meter to help set up my Denon 4802, trying to get the speaker levels the same from the chair I sit in. My question is on the positioning of the microphone (for lack of a better name, the part the sounds comes into the meter). Since I have 2 ears and they are located on the side of my head, how do I position the meter? Do I position it facing front and leave it there for all the speakers? Do I point it at each speaker when doing the tone test?
  8. I've got it! Thanks for your help and Dan thanks for offering the phone support. That was very much appreciated. The problem was my digital inputs. When I added an analog connection as well to the CD player and DVD player it all worked fine.
  9. Thats what I have done. Can not figure out why it won't work. I have the RCA in the same multi out plug. That goes to the CD in on the AVR-3000. I select multi and pick the source. You do not have any other connections between the 2 amps? Anything in the room to room or power amp out? (which I thought was just for remote control) How about the speaker connections marked Sb/multi (L&R). Those are unused?
  10. Thanks Easy, I have done all that (I think). The only thing you did not mention was the line that goes to the CD input of the other amp where does it leave the 4802?
  11. No matter what I do, I can not get my speakers in the other room to play. I have a Denon AVR4802 receiver which I have 7 speakers hooked up to. I am using my Denon AVR3000 to power the speakers in the other room. Or at least that is what I am trying to do. The 4802 manual is not very helpful and I have done everything the salesman at Tweeter suggested. This is what I have tried: Connecting the Pre-out multizone on the 4802 to the Main in on the 3000. (don't know what to set the 3000 to) Connecting the Pre-out multizone on the 4802 to the CD in on the 3000. Connecting the tape out or VCR out on the 4802 to the CD in or the main in on the 3000. In all cases the extra speakers are connected to the 3000. On the 4802, I have set it to multizone and/or recout. Nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong?
  12. I noticed Boston's first album out on SACD. When reading the cover it did not say anything about it being in 5.1. I totally love Dark Side of the moon (my first SACD). Will I be disappointed with Boston?
  13. I just upgraded my home theater. It now consists of: Panasonic PT53WX52 projection TV Denon 4802 Receiver Denon DVD-1600 Sony Ex333ES 300 disc CD Sony SLV-W51 VCR Klipsch Forte II mains Klipsch KV2 Center Klipsch KG-5 side surrounds Bose 2001 rear surrounds I would appreciate any comments/opinions on the components. Now for the questions: 1. I currently have 7 speakers hooked up, 2 on the side and 2 in the rear. Given that almost everything is in 5.1 is it worth having the extra pair? The 4802 seems to deal with them nicely but the 7 speakers leads to another problem. I also have speakers in another room. The Denon has multi-room capability but I either need to remove a set of surrounds or use another amp to power the speakers in the other room. I do have my old Denon AVR-3000 which I could use but have no idea how to wire. The 4802 manual does not show where to plug the 3000 into the 4802. Any ideas on how to do this? Is it worth it or should I remove one of the surrounds. 2. I bought Terminator-2 Ultimate edition. I watched in in DTS and it was incredible. However when I pushed the THX home theater button it sounded terrible. It cut out almost all the surround sound. Probably hard to diagnose remotely but any ideas on what the problem could be? I went through the THX setup getting all the speakers correct so that is not it. 3. I currently have all the video inputs going directly to the TV (HDTV cable box component 1, DVD component 2, VCR video 1, Denon receiver video 2 for on screen display). Is this the way to go or should I hook the video to the 4802 and then use the monitor out to go into component 1 of the TV. This will reduce all the switching on the TV but will I lose video quality by going through the Denon instead of direct wiring to TV? 4. This is a Denon specific question so hopefully someone will be able to answer. The component video out does not support on screen display. The S-video out does support on screen. Currently to use the Denon on screen display I need to swith the TV to video 2. Is there a way of integrating the on screen display in the the component ? Thanks in advance
  14. I have a Denon AVR3000. I read about a product made my Vantas that upgrades a 2 channel to 5.1. This does not seem to be available any longer. Are there other products available that do the same? If so, where can I find them?
  15. I am building a new entertainment center. I am using Forte IIs which have the 15" drone in the back. How far from the back of the cabinet should I place the speakers? How much clearance around the sides of the speakers should I allow on each side of the speaker?
