sonny
I just added a Panasonic BMP BD35 Blu ray player to my system with an Onkyo TXSR 606 Receiver. I am using a 5.1 setup instead of 7.1 at present and want to know how the system will handle the Dolby True HD & DTS HD signal to 5.1. Will I get the full sound? Are all Dolby True HD & DTS HD movies meant for 7.1 or will the system adapt? With the towers I have huge sound and really would rather not use the back surrounds. Any feedback is appreciated!! tommyboy
Yes, I also run 5.1. You'll be fine, and it will still sound great!
falcon20x
Most blue ray movies are in 5.1 format, just a few are 7.1. I'm in the same situation I'm running a 5.1 set up and I do not have any issues with 7.1 format. You will just lose the 2 surround back channels, which most of the time are nothing else but a remix of what comes out of the 2 other surrounds to create a continuity in the surround effects Unless you have a huge room I would not worry about not having the 2 surround back spreakers
