Earle Decker
Im starting a web page but I just wanted to share a quick picture or two of my toys. The TV is a basic 32" Sony, hopefully to be replaced with a HDTV in the next year. The fronts are KG 4.2's and a KG 2.2v. The subs are SVS 20-39's. Rears are KSB 3.1's and Rear Centers are B&W solid monitors. The rest of the equipment is a: Receiver-Denon 3802 Amps-Acurus A250(powers 4.2's), Fidek 600 watt for subs DVD-Toshiba 3109 Philips DSR6000 CD/SACD-Sony 333ES Laser-Pioneer 1090 The Acurus is new and not shown in the pics. The Fidek is behind the wall in a crawl space due to the fan noise. Just wanted to show off my toys to people that understand the addiction. dougdrake2
Earle - I like the way all your horns line up across the front at the same level. That works well. I have 2 pairs of the very same B&W Solids pulling remote duty in the kitchen and master bath -- they work well for their size! Earle Decker
Doug, Thanks for the kind words. The 2.2's horn is between the two drivers, so they are not really lined up perfectly. I have been thinking about raising the stand and placing the 2.2 in the more commom horizontal alignment. The best tweak I have done is getting the center channel off the TV and on a stand. IT makes a huge difference in the sound of a speaker. I would love to find a single 4.2 for the center. Thanks Earle
HornEd
Earle, you have a great start... your second most important speakers (subwoofers) are a winner. Now, put your front center into the rear (center) effects position and pick up another 4.2 for your front center and you will be amazed at the benefits... particularly on HT. I kind you not, HornEd puts his money where is mouth is...for decades. Earle Decker
HornEd, My goal is to get 2 pairs of the 2.2's for the rear's and rear centers. With a single 4.2 for the front center. Ideally I would power the center with another Acurus amp. I saw your pic posted here. That center looks huge up on the Mits. Must sound great. Doug, I see that you like Acurus amps. I just got the A250, Made a huge differnce in 2 channel listening. How long have you had the 3 channel Acurus? Any problems? Thanks Earle
HornEd
Sorry to say that is not a 3-channel Acurus, Earle. But I do have one on my short list for the Cornwalls in the music room. You were posting your reply to Doug while I was writing my post to you on picking up another 4.2. Bear in mind, Earle, that a another 4.2 would make a dandy rear effects speaker for 6.1 and you could offset the deal by selling the monitors. Keep up the Good Tweak rolling! Earle Decker
There is a 4' door centered on the back wall, which kinda makes it necessary to use a 7 channel setup. I was thinking let the 3802 power the back 4 channels. I would even have a extra channel on the 2nd Acurus amp, maybe power up another 20-39. dougdrake2
Earle - Had the Acurus since summer. No problems at all - I don't think it ever gets out of idle, even jamming at high volume. Runs cool as a cucumber! It really brought the lows to life, as well. Doug ------------------ My System
