captmobley
I bought a Carver Ct26v preamp and a Mt500 amp from Craigslist and when I hook up my Thorens 110 turntable to the pre I get a loud hum that increases with volume. I have the ground hooked up to the pre-I even tried to hook it to the ground on the amp, then jump a wire between the amp ground and the pre ground but nothing seems to cure it . I have this hooked to my Lascalas and don't have the hum when it's on the tuner. I don't have any manuals for anything so I'm flying blind, The Carver forum has manuals, but they want 50 posts to access that database. Anyone have any ideas?Thanx
garymd
Try wiggling each wire to the cart. I'm having a similar problem with my TD 145 on just the right channel and narrowed it down to the right channel (red) wire going into my cart. Is your's humming out of both speakers? Also, check your I/Cs. Wiggle them to see if that changes the hum. Did you have this table on a different system with no hum?
