drimaxu
I have a set of 1977 LaScala's with k-77 twetters. One of the speakers will not produce any high end sound at low volume, if you turn the volume up it plays great. Have changed the tweeters and there is no difference. Anyone have any ideas? Guest BobG
Somewhere in the circuit path to the tweeter, there is a high resistance connection. Might be in a push on connector, a broken voice coil wire, a dirty potentiometer for your treble control. At low volume the signal cannot overcome the resistance so you get no highs. When the signal is large enough to overcome the resistance, you've got signal again. Check all connections all the way to the driver. Never hurts to whack on things either. Many times, that'll reveal the source of the problem. Sounds crude, I know but it works.
Clint Phare
I ran into a similar problem a few months back. The screws on the crossover for the K-77 were loose. Tightened them and all is well.
