Bypassing the caps in a Chorus II xover

Recommended Posts

I've upgraded the caps and resistors in my Chorus II xovers with Kimber Caps and Mills resistors. I'm thinking about bypassing the Kimber caps with some small value V-caps (.47uF).

Any thoughts? Good or bad idea? Any suggestions?

Bypassing the caps is a great idea. I am not sure 0.47 uF is ideal?

Ref "Caps guru" Tony Gee at Humble Homemade hifi, is it a must regardless what caps you are using in the xo.

He reccomend Vishay Rodenstein 0.01uF/100VDC

I followed that advise for all caps in Alkeng ES400/5800 for my Khorns. Great result!

God luck.

I like the Film and Foil bypass caps as well, I would not spend the $$$ for V-Caps. Then again, if ever I spent the green for the V-Caps I would convince myself that I hear an improvement, as I am not impervious to the audio-fool stigma.
