oddio-guy
Greetings, all, This morning my Jolida 502b blew a fuse, causing one power tube to glow bright orange. I replaced the fuse, moved the tube to another socket to verify the tube's demise. Yup, the bias reading would not rise above 19. This seems a strange occurrence for a new amp with new tubes. Is it? Might something else be awry?
mobile homeless
I bet your tube went sound which might have caused the fuse to blow instead of the other way around. What were the tubes? This is actually not as uncommon as you might think. In that amp, it is rather important to have matched pairs so you at least need to try to match the other tube that is good if the tube is the problem. I have a feeling it is. Call Jolida up if the unit is brand new and they will send a replacement pair. Frankly, it's good for this to happen now while still new (if it is indeed new). There is a chance it is something else wrong such as a cap or even a resistor...but my guess is the tube. Cant be sure from here. Jolida is actually pretty good about working with you so talk to their tech. I surely would not use that tube any more, however. kh Phono Linn LP-12 Vahalla / Linn Basic Plus / Sumiko Blue Point CD Player Rega Planet Preamp Cary Audio SLP-70 w/Phono Modified Amplifier Welborne Labs 2A3 Moondog Monoblocks Cable DIYCable Superlative / Twisted Cross Connect Speaker 1977 Klipsch Cornwall I w/Alnico & Type B Crossover system one online / alternate components / Asylum Listing f>s> This message has been edited by mobile homeless on 03-02-2002 at 06:15 PM
