LonestarBlues
I am interested in trying out a tube amp. I am using solid state Mcintosh currently. I have 2 pair of Cornwalls-1977 & 1983. I have a Mcintosh MR 80 tuner at an out of state dealer waiting for a UPS claim decision. They have a demo VAC Auricle-55 wpc. Retail price-$2000, selling for $1495. Looks very similar to the Marantz 8B reissue, vac-amps.com. Factory reconditioned Conrad Johnson MV 55 -$1459. And a demo Marantz 8B reissue-$2695. I am thinking about trading in my tuner for one of these amps if they will give me a decent trade in price. Is there any difference in build quality? Thanks for any advice & opinions of these amps. ------------------
Clipped and Shorn
There was a beautiful 8b reissue on eBay recently: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1332561941 went for under $1700, that was more than the usual vintage one. -issued and reissued
