Thoriated_Tiger
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah! Finally got my mostly-stock Dyna Stereo 70 back in operation! Had to replace the entire SDS-Labs cap board (Awesome mod, triples the stock filter capacitance, more punch, sweeter highs). I'd killed the first SDS board by sheer carelessness..carbonized a bit of it. No more 'all cymbals sound like ssssss'. Each and every one has a distinct flavor. Thoriated_Tiger
The Dyna itself is a very very early model. The SDS Capboard is the big one (the only one Triode Electronics seells, it is nearly a tripling (or more) over the stock can cap. I left the can on for looks The result is: it doesn't run out of steam anymore, at any volume Better bass (deeper, more controlled) and the extreme highs are more defined. But not etched. ------------------ --- Klipsch SF2 Thorens TD145 / AT440ML turntable Dynaco Stereo 70 power Sansui CA-2000 pre Pioneer RT707 tapedeck Pioneer 4100 cd player
mobile homeless
Welborne Labs has a reportedly nice kit mod for the ST-70 from what I have heard. While not a complete redo here it has some nice points. Comes with a aluminum cover for where the old board went as well. http://www.welbornelabs.com/st70.htm kh
