Manuel Delaflor
KSW12 here, not bad at all, but now I want something closer to 20Hz, or better yet something with authority to 20Hz. Im thinking in an Acoustic Research ARS500, for example. 500watts RMS Carver amplifier, 15 inch, rated at 18Hz at -2.5dB all this for 500 bucks. Or probably the DIY path... NOSValves
Where did you find that for $500. I'm using a KSW-15 with my HT setup and it sounds pretty good. If you going to buy that new sub do you want to sell your KSW-12 ? Why do you feel you need to go lower ?? For movies or music ?? I can't amaging needing something to go that low for music ? ------------------ HH Scott Tube FM Tuner LT-110B HH Scott Tube Amp 222C HH Scott Turn Table P-87 Sony DE-975 AV Receiver Sony NS-900P DVD Sony CD 5 DISC C315 Syenrgy SF-2 mains KSC-C1 Center Channel KSW-15 Sub SS-1 Surrounds Promedia 5.1 for the PC
maxg
I am not sure you can buy the sub REL on line - probably the best thing to do is to write to them. They have their own site at www.rel.net I bought mine locally - they generally seem to have a wide distributor network. Good luck hunting. Here is the address: http://www.supremevideo.com/audio/acoustic_research/ars500.htm But Im aware now that they don't have it in stock!!! And I can't find it anywhere else! :-( "Why do you feel you need to go lower ?? For movies or music ?? I can't amaging needing something to go that low for music ?" Actually, I hear a lot of Classical music, and there are lots (really lots) of bass in some orchestral pieces, not to mention when a tube organ is present! maxg
There seems to be only one dealer in north america(!!) Sumiko 2431 Fifth Street, Berkley, California 94710 USA + 1 510 843 4500 + 1 510 843 7120 Their web site is www.sumikoaudio.com and there is a section on the Rel's. The Strata 3 in black retails at $1,295 which may make it expensive next to other offerings in the US but you will be hard pushed to find a better sonic match for the Heresy. If you do - let me know - I spent a year trying to find one!!
NOSValves
I hate to tell ya this. But there is no way I'll pay 1300.00 for a sub to mate with a $500 set of speakers. What happened to $500 ?? I'll just buy a KSW-12 or 15 they can be had for 310.00 and 450.00 plus shipping. There just can't be a $800 to $1000 difference in the Subs. I'm not saying the REL wouldn't be better just not worth it to me !
