ElShaddai
I'm leaning toward putting in some in-wall speakers as part of a "wife-friendly" home theater setup. However, one of my walls is a shared interior wall with another room and I'm unsure as to how much total wall depth is required for the Klipsch speakers. I'd like to use the SCW-2 speakers and need clarification on what "0.75 cubic feet" of "recommended back air volume" means. Thanks, ElShaddai
RossVTaylor
Any of the Klipsch in-walls, and most other brand in-walls too, require no more depth than is available within a standard 2X4 wall. The volume figure refers to the airspace available within the wall. You don't want to build a little 2X4 box around your in-wall speaker. If it's mounted on the drywall within a normal stud bay, there will be plenty of volume. Ross

Mystery Guest
Hey! I just don't know if I like all this "wife-friendly" and "wife factor" stuff. Should I be offended? Nah! I guess I am just different. I am very involved in what Steve does to the house and if it sounds good, I like it! There are ways to make HT's look good too. ElShaddai
No offense! I've got a fairly small room and no room on the floors for towers, so I need to put something on/in the walls or ceiling. I looked at the Quintet system, but the wider frequency range of the SCW-2's is looking more attractive. If I can make it work, I get better speakers and she doesn't have to look at them hanging off the wall. Best of both worlds. Mystery Guest
Oh! No offense taken. I am glad to hear that you care what she thinks. Not enough men actually care what their wife thinks. I was just giving you guys a hard time. I'm strange that way.
MSPMP
If you put the in wall speakers on an exterior wall does the insulation effect the sound? I really have no place to mount some of my speakers except on exterior walls and as I live in the Great White North I need insulation.
