2 years ago we upgraded from the 2800 to the 3801. The features of the 3803 have my husband thinking about doing it again. Go with the 3803 and don't look back.

Just thought some of the Denon owners may want a shot. Not going to ebay, even though they may bring a bit more green there. AudioGon may be the best place. Just have to see what happens here. Don't really want to sell, but could use the money.

Hi all, I know, it is posted in the General listing also. Don't fuss. Just trying to let everyone that may be interested know. We need to part with our 2 Denon POA-2800 200X2 amps. Last year produced was '96 or'97. They are listed as being Optical Class A, 200 wpc into 8 ohms at 0.05% THD(can't remember all that stuff), I think it has something to do with the switching between A and A/B(what ever that means) Steve had them checked and they do 200 into 8 within specs. 348 into 4 at clipping and are stable to 1 ohm. They did 1500 wpc into 2 ohm peak to peak(what ever that means LOL)They are dual mono design. Of the 200wpc Denon built, it was the top of the Denon 200X2 amp. I remember he drove our 2 4 ohm subs with one channel for a few hours with no heat build up what so ever. They never even get warm when played for many hours. If you have a Denon receiver and would like some improvement, these amps will do it. I was happy with the improvement using the 3801 as a preamp. Separates do make a difference even if you use a receiver as a preamp. Anyway, $350 each and you pay the shipping.They were $800 new and hard to find He said he doesn't remember the weight, about 50 lbs or so. We don't have the original boxes, but will be packed properly. One looks like new, not a scratch on it, the other has a very, very slight scratch on the very top of the cover, both front panels like they did when new. I just thought I would add to this. Since the addition of our '77 Klipschorns, Steve has wanted a La Scala center. He located the LF section of one a few weeks ago and had to build a top for it. The tweeter is mounted vertical next to the squawker, like the the picture of the "Runt". Don't get excited, you can NOT buy one, only 28 ever built back in the early 60's.It had a 12" woofer and rolled off above 100hz. Anyway, our "new" center is now on top of our 52" RCA RPTV. It weighed in at 99 lbs and was a pain to get up there. The RCA is built very well and should not sag. It has 3/4 mdf construction through out. Nothing is better than having the right center channel He will post a pic as soon as he finishes the cabinet, a bit rough. I always knew he was right about the center match. In the sub set up in the 3802, you have the choice of "LFE+mains", set it there. If not, you won't have any bass sent to the sub when using prologic. As far as the large, small setting goes, just experiment. We have the 3801 and Klipschorns and now a La Scala center instead of the modified Heresy as seen by clicking on the little house below. Early last year, we bought a pair of '96 Heresy II's. Having Klipschorns in the living room, they were headed for the bedroom for music. Even on top of 2 foot tall endtables, they sounded great. We found a pair of Cornwalls and the Heresys were put on the "2 two many list". When someone came to audition them, they were sitting on the floor in front of our K-Horns powered by one our 2 Denon POA 2800 amps. They had the flat riser base. Didn't find the bass lacking one bit and sounded wonderful musically. They will be bass shy for movies, but depending on what type of music you like, they should do fine until a sub comes along. We listen to anything from smooth Jazz to Heavy Metal. Not putting down the SF-2, but have always been a Heritage fan from long ago. Hi all! I know I'm not on here very much but I had to comment on this. Clueless, as a matter of fact, when I met Steve he only listened to rock-n-roll. Since that time I have exposed him to the wonders of many kinds of music. There is not much music out there that I don't like. By the way, I love Black Sabbath Paranoid. There is no WAF here to worry about. We are a team and discuss everything. I am not as good with the technical things as he is but I really appreciate good sound in music and HT. As some of you know, I have taken a couple of long HOT road trips with Steve to look at speakers, which by the way I was writing the check for immediately upon seeing and hearing them. It has been a wonderful experience knowing Steve and taking an interest in what he likes. I was exposed to Klipsch right after meeting him and have been in love ever since ( I meant with Klipsch, although it was love at first sight with Steve too) Anyway, sorry this is so long...just wanted to put in my...errrr...two cents worth Oh Yeah! I wanted to add that I loved going to Hope for the fan tour. Anyone who didn't go really missed a great time! kh, My husband buys almost exclusively used products and has spent a significant amount of money on our system. It has been so very worth it because our system is just fantastic. I would much rather watch a movie in our HT than in a theater. What I'm saying is that sometimes it's worth paying a little more. In the past I had a totally different opinion about this but have learned that there IS a difference. Ken, I really think the Denon is superb for the money. I realize that I am over a week late for this but was out of town all last week. I was with Steve in Indy when he received the news and was devastated along with him. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have met Paul on two occasions. He was a one of a kind genious and will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to Miss Valerie who will miss him more than anyone of us could know. The world has truly lost a legend. Great story HDBR! I'm sure it was fun as well as educating to spend time with Jim and Becky. I look forward to getting to know them. I was very impressed with Jim when I met him at the Fan Club Tour in Hope. He really knows his stuff.Steve has met his family and likes them all. Klipsch is so full of interesting people. I am glad Steve introduced me to this fine company. Justin...my uneducated opinion is that the Heritage line are the best sounding speakers but the Reference line has a good sound also. Take the advice above...listen to both and trust your ears. And speaking of ears...Hey TheEar...You are just a little too touchy. Horned was just pointing out that you were portraying your speakers as horn loaded. That was how I took it...Anyway back to the subject...It looks like a great project Justin. I know it will be lots of fun putting it together. Steve would love to be able to do that.
