Klipsch Heresy II speakers

Hello,

I have been a long time reader of the forums, but have not posted before. I have a question on the Heresy II speakers. There are a pair that was listed on the local CL for $300. I went to look at them as the owner said they were in good shape but in his garage, which didn't excite me. Upon arrive to the garage, the speakers had large wall mounts screwed into the top of them, he had been using them in his bar for awhile. I know I could take those off but then would have 4 holes in the top of each speaker. The veneer seemed to be dried out or water had contact with the cabinets because they were starting to split at the bottom of the cabinets. I checked the back of these and they were made in an unfinished oak, and the owner had stained them. I also took off the grills and the woofer and horns were very very clean. The owner did mention that the tweeters had been replaced due to high volumes at the bar from some college kids.

My question is, in this condition are they really worth $300? I was thinking that they internals, woofers, tweeters, and mids might only be worth $150 if I would part them out. Also, they did not have the risers with them either. Thank you for any in put on these!

I have to agree with djk here...

The true answer to your "are they really worth $300" that is total up to you. What have the prices been like in your area, compared to these? Since you mentioned parting them out is that what you are planning on doing with them?

I think they are way over priced but was wondering a fair price for them. There isn't alot of comps in the area to compare to. A pair of KG3 with stands that are perfect are going for around $300, and a pair of 79 Cornwalls a guy wanted $900 for but had a few chips around the corners. So not alot to compare it to. Haven't seen alot of Heresy in the area for sale. I would like to put them in the garage since they have the mounting system on them already, or try to salvage the cabinets and build risers for them and put them in the basement. Thanks for the responses!
