Question about the subwoofer's for the different systems...

Hi, first time poster.

About a week ago the subwoofer on my ProMedia 4.1 system just stopped working. I opened it up, fuse seemed fine, nothing seem burned or smelled burned so I have no idea what the problem is.

My question is this: I have a buddy who has a 2.1 system and another buddy who has a 5.1 system and both of them are willing to give me the subwoofer from their sytems(they both downgraded to laptops) and I was curious if either of these would work with the rest of my 4.1 system?

Thank you very much

Well, neither controller will work outright with the 4.1 system, they have different connectors on them, what I am curious about though, is if the connector on a 2.1 controller was switched over to the connector for a 4.1, would it work? in theory, yes, it would. but I can't say one way or another as it has not been done yet to my knowledge. also, it may not have anything to do with the controller, it could be something. or it could just be the controller, in which case all you would need is to find a used one to make your sub work, also, it could just be the DIN connector on your controller, I replace them all the time for people and most of the time, that is all that is wrong with a system and they don't cost alot to fix. I hope this helped you in some way.
