HPower
I have just decided to ad a DAC to my front end (Sony DVP NS9100ES) and I am considering 2 machines, the W4S DAC1 and the Burson HA-160D. Both are priced around 1Gr, a bit more than I initially figured but they both have gotten some pretty good recommendations, I am leaning toward the Burson, mainly due to the extra features above just a DAC: http://bursonaudio.com/HA_160D.html6moon, seems to favour it over the Weiss Minerva aka DAC2... which many think this is one of the best DAC going! Did not see a price on the Audio Gd Dac, but if either of these 2 are in your budget, they might be worth a look.
BBZink
Burson is a phone amp, not a dac? thanks anyhow
HPower
tapajeurs, Have a closer look, the HA-160D is a DAC, as well as a preamp, and a heaphone amp. Bruson's HA-160... minus the "D" for DAC is, just strictly a Headphone amp. The reason I suggested the 160D is that 6moon seemed to favour it over the Weiss DAC2 because the reviewer felt the Burson was more musical, see page 4 of the review, "Burson vs. Weiss as DACs:.." http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/burson5/4.html
