Mark Watson
With this being my first post, I just want to say thanks to this forum for renewing my enthusiasm for my 1976 Cornwall II's for which I bought new and have enjoyed for the last 26 years. I have always new they were special but never realized others felt as I do. There is not much I can add to what has already been said about these speakers except to come to the defense of these speakers in regards to the various criticism's that have been directed to them. I have had my Cornwall's in a variety of settings over the years and have gotten very different results in each situation. I would have to say that having my speakers corner mounted and up off the floor (about 18 inches) on my wrought iron stands and in an acoustically friendly room yeilded the best results from these speakers. I have driven them with a Mc Intosh MA 6100 Integrated Amplifier which is been a solid power source. My speaker wire has always been 16 awg lampcord until recently now being replaced by 14 awg shielded coax. My wife and I both think the sound is a little brighter. I just want to sy that buying these speakers in '76 was the best $1050.00 I ever spent. The amp was a good investment as well. $560.00. avman
i'm sure i suffered permanent hearing loss to a pair of cornwalls/rock music/transistor based electronics in a smallish room. they screamed! i just recently listened to a pair hooked up to an old crown amp/pre-amp. LOTS of bass, but leaning on the old beast-of-an-amp was piercing. so both sets of cornwalls i've listened to at volume get in-your-face. i'm sure that w/proper 'care and feeding' they sound great. avman. welcome to the bb ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds RSW-15 sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 sony dvpnc 650-v 5-disc dvd/cd/SACD changer dishnetwork model 6000 HD sat rcvr w/digital off-air tuner sony kv36xbr450 high-definition 4:3 tv sharp xv-z1u lcd projector w/84" 4:3 sharp screen Bello'international Italian-made a/v furniture panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable and nxg interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire KLIPSCH-So Good It Hz! Mark Watson
Thanks for the welcome Klipschguy. Avman, My serious cranking days are over for now since my speakers are placed in my living room which is about 12X16 ft and not very acoustical. As you probably know, the speakers sound quite good at low to mid levels. As to my "Baby Mc Intosh", it really don't sound half bad paired with these speakers. In my future is a rec room turned into a sound room where I can get on with business.
