biglaz
I recently purchased a USB DAC to output music from the PC to the stereo. Immediately I have a low level buzz. Is this a ground loop? The two systems are not near each other, using 25 ft rca connectors. No other problems with system. Thanks, Robert
russ69
25 foot RCAs? That is pretty long. try some shorter cables and see if the hum is present. Also if your power cord is a two prong plug, that can be reversed, give that a try.
deafbykhorns
Its a ground loop, try lifting the ground at the amplifier or the computer, problem solved. Not always a good thing to lift the computer ground due to shock hazard and static issues, but a worthwhile compromise. I would lift the audio equipment ground first. biglaz
Thanks guys. The problem turned out to be bad cables. Replaced with heavier shield cables and no more buzz. Robert
