Ironsave Posted March 11, 2011 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Yamaha A-500 Integrated amplifier. 70w x 2. Yamaha T500 Tuner I can score these + Bose speakers for under $100. (They would be sold ASAP) Would this IA be an upgrade if used in conjunction with my Onkyo (as a pre) for 2 channel??? I would be powering the Heresies with this. Realistically; the Onkyo is probably doing 40 WPC x 7 max..... Would my surround sound still work in this configuration? (I am thinking yes; but my delays may be off). I have 2 hours to decide....... If you want to make an improvement in sound by adding a stereo amplifier to your existing system, you really want to make a big step up in both power and quality. The Yamahas were nice in their day and it would be a good system if you needed one but as an upgrade the results would be marginal from what you already have.
