tsttm
hi, when i connect my iphone with speakers on (always on since no on/off switch), i get a loud 'bang' even if there's no music playing when i connect (like some kind of feedback). once it's connected it's fine. 1) is this normal? 2) will it damage my speakers in any way? So far, the only solution is to remember to turn the volume down on the speakers before plugging in..but often i forget. thanks.
Dingman
I get same thing. I'm pretty sure it's the spike created at the moment of connection. The only solution I know of is turn the amp off first. Damage? I don't know, but it does sound nasty.
tsttm
when you say turn the amp down, you mean turn the volume down? thats the only control that i see. thanks. wanted to know if anyone experienced the same and whether there was anything (including on the iphone end) that i could do to avoid this. Ironsave
Yes, turn the volume down. It is normal in the sense that this happens even when connecting a bass guitar to an amp. The solution is..... You guessed it..... Turn down the amp gain (volume) or use a mute button if the amp has it. (My Trace Elliott does).
