paul32579
Found one of these subs for sale, thinking they might be the ticket for deep bass with my La Scalas. Thing goes to 28 Hz, 107 dB...hmmm. Thoughts? 15-inch be better, or this good enough?
Mike 585
I have one that came with my Belles and am pleased with the way they work together for music. Am I right to guess that It's going for $300-$400?
psg
107 dB is likely a 1 m reading, making it (not surprinsly for a sub of that era) much lower in max SPL and higher in frequncy response than a modern sub (compare to even the Klipsch Sub 12): http://www.klipsch.com/sw-12-ii http://www.klipsch.com/sub-12-subwoofer I would skip it. Unless you are limited in space, consider a DIY horn-loaded or tapped-horn sub and some means of EQ. These will go much louder, much lower, and will have lower distorsion. The sub will blend in seemlessly with bass that sounds like Klipschorn bass. Mike 585
I agree with what Peter says and am considering a THT (or two) myself in the next house where I plan to have more space. My thought was that the SW 12 does a decent job and provides a reasonable sonic ROI if one can be obtained locally for a few hundered dollars. I prefer it over ported designs I've heard that sell used for around that price.
paul32579
Nope, the SW 12 II is a hundred and fifty bucks. I like good deals, but not on stuff I won't use. Course, some else might...
