Connection issues...

it sounds like you are trying to connect a low level output or LFE out from your receiver to a passive sub. you need an active sub to plug into that connection from your receiver. an active sub is one that needs to be plugged into the wall.

If you are talking about making a speaker wire into an RCA wire you just put ends like this on:

You have to put RCA plugs on both ends. Do not connect the speaker wire to the receiver at the speaker outs, and connect the other end to the LFE or low level RCA inputs on your sub. You will cause lots of sparks and burn your house down.

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for...Guess I can probably find these at my local Radio Shack?

Yup. Get a soldering iron while you are there if you don't own one.

I assume the cable is pulled into a wall, as you are not buying a regular RCA patch cable. They are cheap, and are also available at Radio Shack.
