VanDizKo
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RF-5-Maple-Towers-FLAWLESS-Perfect-Pair-/250979149169?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item3a6f85e571 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-2-Klipsch-RF-5-Dual-8-Two-Way-Floorstanding-Loudspeakers-/400268922503?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item5d31e30e87 I ran across these two pair of reference series of Klipsch RF-5 maple color are listed on ebay for sale. Both have different power rating. One is rated at 150W and the other is rated at 250W. According to my knowledge, Klipsch only released the reference RF-5 series in cherry, black and maple are rated at 150W on their spec sheet. I have searched and search, but have not found any tech info saying that Klispch RF-5 rate at 250W. Am I missing something here? Or these are Klipsch knock off? The ebay sellers did provide the detail pictures of the Klipsch RF-5 with the Klipsch serial number tags. Are these tags authentic? Would someone like to share the light for all of us to see with these Klipsch RF-5 models? Klipsch's Guru would help. vp
Modified-Tractrix
They are authentic, klipsch has misprints on several serial number labels. the maple looks very nice in person too.
VanDizKo
So, the correct max power input rating for the Klipsch RF-5 reference series with black, cherry and maple is 150W. There isn't any special limited production RF-5 Klipsch released? At first, I thought these might use the same RF-7 drivers to run at same power rating at 250W. Man, would it be great if they were using the same drivers as the RF-7 series? That would be a good hunt for those RF-5 at 250W to be collected. CECAA850
Man, would it be great if they were using the same drivers as the RF-7 series? . They'd never fit in the cabinet.
CECAA850
I think I remember reading something about some RF-5's being mis-labled as far as the power handling goes. It's been a while. They all have the same wattage rating regardless of the label.
VanDizKo
Man, would it be great if they were using the same drivers as the RF-7 series? . They'd never fit in the cabinet. You are right. There is no way an 8" inch cabinet of the RF-5 can fit with a 10" sub driver of RF-7. Even if they were able to fit, the RF-5 would not sound the same way as the RF-7, because of the smaller cabinet. It is just everbody wishfull thinking. Bigger driver pack in the small cabinet. Big bang for the bucks.
Modified-Tractrix
The high frequency driver would fit, but the crossover would need to be reworked. Combine them with a good sun and they are tough to beat for the footprint they occupy.
