InventiveAudio.com
In my down stairs system I have Cornwalls for mains, a Heresy for the center channel and Heresys for the rear channels. I also have a 15" passive sub that goes to about 30hz and creates a nice rich sound to my system. The Heresy speakers cut off at 63 hz due to specification listed on the Klipsch site. I recently bought an SACD player and wanted to know if I should be setting my center and rear speakers (Heresys) to small or large. On my player or preamp I can set the speakers to small and re-direct all frequencies below 80hz to the sub. And my other alternative is to set the Hersys to full range? Is there any advantage to either one. I also have 5 monoblocks running each channel so juice is not an issue. Thanks
JohnA
It looks like you should set the Heresies to small. John
boa12
yes heresy definitely small if the sub is adequate. there may even be a case for setting the corns to small if you can believe it. bass quality thing. have you tested the bass quality for all small vs all large? ------------------ My Home Systems Page
InventiveAudio.com
My thinking is that the heresys will roll off at 63hz anyway so why not run them full range? Is there less distortion by running them small? Thanks
boa12
trader, depends. if f.e. u use it for HT & some mixer puts 30hz bass in the rear channels, then you likely could get some distortion out of 'em. because my crossover in the pre/pro is global, i have to run the C7 from a 50hz speakers/sub crossover. when some movie soundtrack mixer puts a lot of real low bass in the centers, i sometimes do get a lil distortion. never a problem w/ music though. best thing is too experiment w/ the various settings w/ various bassy material. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
