moray james Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 depends on how thick, why not all the way around back too? 1/2 or 5/8 inch Baltic Birch would be excellent you could veneer with what ever you like after the fact. If you want to do stuff like this it would be easier and better to do it from scratch. Put the stock cabinet in the closet if you have concerns. What's the goal here looks performance or? I tend to be a form follows function kind of guy. There are a lot of options you could follow but it all depends upon what you would like to achieve. Everything messes with everything and the sonic signature will be what ever you make it to be. If you are not good working with that then you best leave things be. Trying to modify a Forte in the way you have shown will just about turn it into a Heresy so I think it would be safe to say the sonic signature would be changed don't you? Best regards Moray James. If I built a box with exactly the same internal dimensions as a Forte, and bought new drivers, passive and crossovers from Bob Crites, would I get the same sound as the Fortes?
