theryugo
What a helluva site! I'm going to refinish my KG5.2s after reading how to here-- I'm probably going to get a Adcom GFA 555 amp for them, and I don't know what to look for in preamps-- Should I get a new model or can I get a solid used one by Adcom or comparable brand? What are good 2-channel amps? for less than $500?
rowooo
Adcom GFP-565 is a great unit which can be had for fairly cheap. No remote though. Are you looking for a pre/tuner, just a pre, two-channel, surround, ???? ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
theryugo
Thanks for responding Either a preamp with or without a tuner--depending on the deal! I'd only listen to PBS baroque on Sundays for a tuner, so its not that necessary. You can't do surround with a GFA 555, can you? I want to use it for music and theater---I may still just use the two KG5.2s front and two back speakers in the ceiling. I saw an adcom preamp and tuner on eBay very cheap, but it doesn't read AC3 - what does that mean? I appreciate the help--
dougdrake
AC3 is the coding scheme used by Dolby Digital. It's the "preferred" format (along with DTS) for audio tracks on DVDs... Doug ------------------ My System
