sdoucet
Hi all, I have a pair of Klipsch Chorus II that was fully rebuilt by the previous owner. Lately I have noticed a screeching noise from the right speaker tweeter. The tweeters are Crites's Titanium upgrades. I figured the tweeter had gone bad so I ordered a replacement unit and swapped it with no improvements. The screeching noise occurs only at high volume and mostly listening to movies. I did further investigation and noticed that the screeching noise only happened when the speaker enclosure was closed. I ran tests with the woofer disassembled and the screeching disappeared. So it appears that the sound waves and pressure from the woofer is getting into the tweeter membrane and creating the screeching noise. I emailed Bob who thought that there may be an issue with the horn flange creating an air leak. So I dismantled the tweeter and put it back together making sure the horn was well tightened. The screeching is unfortunately still there. Would anyone have a recommendation to help seal the horn flange? Thank you
jason str
Rope caulk or adhesive backed weatherstripping will be your best bet.
