Hornmiester
Hi, I am new to the Forum, but I have been reading it for a while. I see yours had the recent mod to the "e" level. I have the VAC PA 90 as well and am very happy with it. I had the mod done to upgrade it to the 90e as well. Here is the information from VAC as to the specifics of the modifications on both of our VAC's. "New interstage coupling capacitors, power supply noise suppression modification, and the new front end circuit topology from the Phi 300, resulting in greater speed, dynamic, detail, and bass punch." To be honest, after spending 2k on the upgrade, I didn't notice a big difference. I loved it before and I love it now! Welcome to the VAC family! Maybe someday, if we hit the lottery, we will move up to the 90k 450's.
eth2
Thanks, Hornmiester. Welcome to the Forum. I am also knew and have learned a great deal. There are some amazingly smart people here. What are you using for a preamp? Also, can you tell me when the PA90's were made, as I cannot find much written about them.
Hornmiester
The PA90 power amplifiers were made from 1990–1997. However, VAC's are made to last forever (well almost) and since yours has been upgraded to the "e" which was only available for the past two or three years, you are golden. Also, VAC support is amazing. You can call and talk to the owner (Kevin Hayes) or Brent almost anytime. Their current amps are crazy expensive and it is difficult to find older models as they go fast due to the price differential. Also, I have a VAC preamp...do you sense a pattern here? I have both Belles and K'horns. Both sound great with the VAC's. I sold my Maggies a some months back as I retired and we moved to a smaller house. Something had to go and my wife said it was some of the equipment or me.
