kenratboy
OK, if I were to buy some speakers (the RB-5's seem too small, but I may still ge them, this is all preliminary stuff), should I get a pair of KLF-30's or some ~1980's La Scals's? Is there any question that the La Scals's are better than the KLF 30's? Hence the price as of new, and full horn loading. Also, I have a dual 15" subwoofer bringing up the bottom end, so don't even worry about bass, I am talking about the rest of it. Any sugestions? Just trying to work things out. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. NOZ
They are both great speakers. If you are concerned about looks and size I'd go with the KLF-30's, but would give a definate edge to the La Scala's for sound. ------------------ NOZ SYSTEM Fronts: Klipsch RF-7's Center: Klipsch RC-7 Rears: Klipsch RS-7's Projector: Infocus LP350 Screen: Draper Premier 96" x 72" TV: Toshiba 37" DVD: Toshiba SD 3107 Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR 7000 CD: Sony CDP CX250 EQ: Harmon Kardon EQ-8 Sub: Velodyne V-1012-B Spare/Back-Up: La Scalas http://www.geocities.com/seanshometheatre/
Mike82
Ken: You're already hooked on Klipsch. Save yourself some time and go for the LaScalas. You can build your system around them. However, as Noz noted, if you're pressed for speace, get the 30s. kenratboy
Well, I know how big the speakers are, but is there a actual space requirement, as in how much brething room they need. Also, this is a 13' X 13'6 room, so would the La Scala's be too much? ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. NOZ
Might be a little tight. You would be sitting about 7' away from the LAS. Yea they are too deep. I used to have mine in a 16' x 14' room and that was too small.16' being the length. ------------------ NOZ SYSTEM Fronts: Klipsch RF-7's Center: Klipsch RC-7 Rears: Klipsch RS-7's Projector: Infocus LP350 Screen: Draper Premier 96" x 72" TV: Toshiba 37" DVD: Toshiba SD 3107 Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR 7000 CD: Sony CDP CX250 EQ: Harmon Kardon EQ-8 Sub: Velodyne V-1012-B Spare/Back-Up: La Scalas http://www.geocities.com/seanshometheatre/

kenratboy
THANKS!!! Actually, I have already heard them, when Good Guys had them (in LA, actually.) and another dealer in LA. The La Scala's, that's a whole other issue... However, one of my dads friends has a pair, and I might be able to talk him into selling them to me, along with his ~1980's Marantz integrated for a ****le. He isn't too interested in them, as the WAF is getting in the way ... Just out of curiosity, where do you live? I am near Geiger Grade and Mira Loma (before you start climbing.) ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. RWMIN
I live near McCarren and Mira Loma. You'd go Geiger, 395n, Longley, McCarren, to Rio Poco (1 blck S. of Mira Loma). My wife and I are staying here with her mom until sometime in November when our home is completed in Spanish Springs. Everything is in storage except the Denon and Klipsch's. I couldn't last without them. BTW, I have worked on many wells in your area. I know Geiger Grade well...
