russ69
Do you have all the parts?
thebes
It's really just the one part, but the bottom that fits onto the post is broken off. I only have some of the pieces to that, so removing, re-gluing etc. most likely wouldn't work, especially since it will be under stress from the string. russ69
If you have enough of the pieces you can glue that all together and then make a silicone female mold. Then you can pour neat resin into the silicone mold. If you want to get fancy you can put in some discontinuous fibers for a stronger part. thebes
Interesting. Sounds like the way to go. I 'm thinking that maybe I could make an impression of the spindle it rests on spindle first, then line up the broken piece properly and then finish making the mold. Have you made molds before Russ? Because I haven't and would appreciate advice on materials, kits etc. Thanks, Marty

The silicone mold is easy, then you need some epoxy resin, you can get that anywhere. The discontinuous fibers? I don't know where to source that, but anything will work, You could buy just some carbon/glass mat and cut up some fibers yourself. Fibers 1/3 as long as they are in diameter have full strength of mat composite, so they can be very short. Maybe some fiberglass people can jump in....
