BAZMANN
in this forum I have a thread called "forte restoration" where you can find info about this. what I need now is help. my fortes are missing some of the acoustic foam. on the web I found acoustic eggcrate foam, will this take the place of the original foam to stop the standing waves or do I need to try something else. I will probably go with 1 in or 1 1/2 in . thanks jb
twk123
You could try using rockwool bats, cutting them to size and covering it with speaker cloth. Here is an article on how to make acoustic panels with it but I am guessing the same principals apply and its easier to work with than fiberglass: http://acousticsfreq.com/blog/?p=62 I lined the back of my KG5.5's with pink fiberglass and covered it with the stock foam insert it came with and it made a huge difference with the bass frequencies as the boxes are big and un-braced. Some more experienced people might be able to point you in a better direction relative to your specific speaker model though.
