Frequency Response for RSW Subwoofers

Could someone please provide to me the low frequency response that one could expect from the RSW-10, 12, and 15? I know the low frequency range for these subs is 29, 22, and 19 respectively as provided in the product literature, but I'm curious to know if someone has been able to validate these specs. I presently have the RSW-10 in a fairly large room paired up front with the RF-3's and while I love the RSW-10, I'm tempted to upgrade it with a 12 or 15 if the performance/upgrade price ratio is positive.

I think the 12 is definitely the sweet spot in the lineup. My local retailer has all of them available so I'm sure I'll head back over there and listen to the two of them again, but if anyone has thoughts/comments between the 12 vs 15 argument they would be appreciated.

Since nobody has the guts to come forward and provide you with any answers,I will. Smile.gif

The RSW10 is solid to 30Hz(my unit anyway),the RSW12 will extend this just a tiny bit(no more then 5Hz)and the RSW15 will not best the RSW12(not even 5Hz deeper with sustained output).

All in all the RSW12 is the best pick in the RSW series, great output and goes quite deep. All the RSW series subs share one common trait.CLEAN and FAST bass,no overhang,no boomy trashy bass common to many ported designs.

Speaking of sub bass quality I did re-listen if you will to my subs this morning.

I started with the lowliest sub I own the KSW12,well it sounded ok with Klipsch's Quintets.I can describe the sound as laced with colorations(sub being the thug here).

Next I moved to the RSW10,ah what a change. For the better, and how.The RSW10 was free from the mild boomy nature that plagues the KSW series.A true defined and clean sounding subwoofer this RSW10.I then too a pair of Dynaudio's Contour 1.1's and again the RSW10 matched well,it did not compromise the overall sound,it added a foundation.Nothing more, the KSW(12 and 15)added unwanted colorations(as do all inexpensive subs to a lesser or greater extent).

Not finished!

After I went down to my Klipsch HT room, took the Dynes with me and in the place of RF-7's conected the Contour 1.1's.Compared to the SUnfire subs the RSW10 fared quite well thank you.It did not have the low end power and weight but was faster. Both the RSW and Sunfire subs lack the nasty boomyness I hate.

Next up my pride and joy the large HT/music systems. With the Contour 1.1's being driven by my trusty Celeste MOON W5 the sound was now, pure magic.SO any cheapo sub would castrate sound quality. With my fave subs in this room I started with the lowliest(in my humble view Smile.gif )of the three, the HGS18(oh Boa will not be happy cwm27.gif ).

Lowly it is not,in fact it bests all the Sunfire subs in quality(any news to ya?)and is the RSW equal in speed! The HGS18 is as clean as a sub will probably get,and extends lower then human hearing ability.Majestic is the word, the HGS18 is one heck of a sub.

Then came the Revel B15.What to say, wonderful integration.Probably the best integration of any of my subs. The blend was perfect!Does not reach as deep as the HGS18 bot in its useful operating range it bests the HGS18 on a few pieces.Plus the B15 has more impact then the HGS18!

Last and best the Aerial SW12.This is no doubt one onf the ...maybe ten best sounding subwoofers at any price in the world. So dynamic,so fast,so free from colorations.A perfect 10 From build quality to sound there is nothing that bests this sub(no kids the SVS Ultra is not as well rounded, sorry).

The SW12 will reach well below 20Hz and reproduce a pipe organ with majesty. And it does damn well on any music in need of a subwoofer.Efortless is the word.

Oh yes the RSW subs, forgot about them.Well great for music and good for HT.Clean, fast and a joy to listen to.I would say if you want a RSW get the RSW12,best ompromise of the three.

theears,

I was wondering if anyone was ever going to comment on my post. I suspected that if anyone was going to reply, it would be you. cwm20.gif

I appreciate your information/comments regarding the RSW series. My RSW-10 has been a pleasure since I bought it a few months back. I love the RSW-10, but for a few dollars more I also think that the RSW-12 is the best for the price/performance ratio. Yesterday I placed my order for the RSW-12 and I should have it this week. I should have purchased it originally, but at the time it was a bit beyond my reach.

As for your listening reviews of your other subs, I am quite impressed with the numerous subs you have in your possession. For me, however, I have this other small hobby of sportbike riding which does a very good job of extorting money away from my music/HT hobby and keeps me relegated to one very good RSW-12.

Thanks again.

theears,

If this shows up after my original reply, my apologies. For some reason the forum says I replied, but my reply is not visible.

Anyway.....thank you for the information on the RSW's. I placed my order for the RSW-12 and it will be in this week.
