Mooch
Hey guys i was just reading a review for the pw-2200 on audioreview. In the review the guy said that turning the volume on the back of the sub to MAX, and then turning to sub volume on the reciever to MIN or close to MIN will give you the best sound and performance for this sub. Is this true, if so why, and what does it do. He said that on most subs you would hear a lot of distortion with this method, but not on the pw-2200, you just get better sound. Thanks! kenratboy
Sounds wierd, as in hoaky. You simply use the subs volume control to get the output you desire. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. TVodhanel
The only possible issue involved is the amount of distortion that will be present in the subwoofer signal from the receiver. Some receivers/preamps do have a bit of distortion when they are maxxed out(or close to it).Certainly nothing specific to the pw2200, TV
boa12
m, after trying that the downside i found was that the sub then might not get enough signal from the preamp to wake up from auto standby as quickly &/or when it should, especially at a lower main volume of listening. so i found the happy median was best. when i used the meter for level setup, i first did the sub. left its level/lfe level flat at 0db, then by using the sub's output dial adjusted that to 90db. then did all the other speaker levels so they put out at 85db. to get 90db on my sub dial is only at about 9:30 or 3.5/10. of course settings & results will vary w/ situation. but w/ good equipment you shouldn't have to worry about the preamp distorting at sub level 0db vs -10db, which is what the guy is saying - less distortion from the preamp when the sub level's turned down. shouldn't be any audible dif w/ a good preamp. shouldn't have to go much above or below a flat setting of 0db. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
