Mike82
What is the configuration of the terminals on this center channel speaker- is there only one set for L/R input from a HT receiver, or are there 2 sets of terminals, one each for each channel? Quenten
Sounds like there is a little confusion here or some miswording (is that a word). The SC-1 has two 5 way binding posts, one for the + ond one for the - speaker wire from the coresponding center channel output terminal on the receiver. The key element here is that each channel delivers sound to 1 specific speaker. This is how we get the sence of surround sound--specific sound for specific speakers. It is possible to bridge 2 or more channels into a single speaker. This is generally done to increase the power being delivered to a given speaker (two 100 watt channels bridged could combine to deliver 200 watts of power to a speaker). This is generally done at the amp--the speaker still only having a single + & - imput. Some speakers do have an additional set of the binding posts--confusing huh? What is going on here is seperating the incoming signal to the woofer and tweeter and is referred to as bi-wiring. This is accomplished by running two set of wires form the amp. People usually run one set form the A output and another form the B output terminals on the back of their receiver/amp (remember those speaker A & B buttons on the front of the receiver). The speaker splits the signal internally when only one set is used--some people feel their is some sonic benefit when this is bypassed. You can also bi-amp, which is you guessed it--using one amp to drive the woofer and another amp to drive the tweeter. Of course this requires 2 amps. Of note is that most people feel that the most sonic improvement is apprecitated with bi-amping. Now there are alternatives depending on the componet being used--check out the new Aragon's. WOW!
