matthew2
I was at "Audio5.1" in Edmonton yesterday. I heard the Klipsch RF3's on tubes. NuVista tubes. "MUSICAL FIDELITY." It sounded great. Even Metallica sounded awsome. I had no idea! Tubes rock. If only I could get sound like that for less.. ------------------ Matthew Klipsch Rocks
kenratboy
Yo - You can get used stuff for little money (Edmonton is pretty big, and eBay also) or you can get soem very nice kit stuff cheap, like same price as the speakers. I am not qualified to make recommendations, so I'll let others do that. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. DANOCASTER
Actually what you heard was "sorta" tubes. I sell the Musical Fidelity NuVista integrated amp and it IS VERY VERY good. BUT,and its a big butt,it's really a "hybrid" amp. A Solid State pwr amp w/ a very smooth SS preamp that utilizes 2 military tubes called "NuVistors" at the preamp's output. The gain is all SS and the Power section is completely solid state. That said, I own this piece and it indeed sounds incredible!! But its not what most on this BB would consider "tubes on Klipsch". Tube power is a whole different ballgame. But people who disregard all SS as sounding SS have never heard the Musical Fidelity stuff. Even their all SS sounds more "tubey" than alot of tube stuff. Leagues more tubey than my Jolida tube amp ever sounded!! This message has been edited by DANOCASTER on 08-16-2002 at 06:11 PM
