Altec Lansing 990E?

Cornwalled

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Has anyone heard of the Altec Lansing 990E compression driver? Anyone know what horns it would mate to, and what the crossover point and slope is for it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot,

Jon

Hello Tom,

I looked at the driver again, and it is indeed a 990, it's a beast, weighs almost 20 pounds! There is a sticker on it that says "Giant Voice", and it's a 4 ohm driver.

Here is a link to it on eBay that I forgot to post before: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1375754304

Do you think this is some large format PA driver intended for outdoor use?

Thanks,

Jon

Jon--That's a 290, look at the label again. The transformer and cover have been removed. This is a phenolic diaphragm driver good down to 300hz on the right horn. Midrange only, very poor highs. Use on Altec multi-cell horn or 1.4" throat horn of your choice. 1st order crossover at 500hz should work fine on 500hz horn.
