Just bought 5.1 speaker set and they haven't worked yet

Hi everyone! I just bought a brand new computer with the SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum soundcard. I plugged the speakers in and installed the Audigy. I did not have sound before or after that. I updated the Audigy drivers as well, but that hasn't fixed it. I have absolutely no sound except the static of moving a cable around with high volume. I have my Control Panel settings on 5.1 surround sound with the Audigy detected. Since no software came with this, and I also have XP, what should I do? I'm completely out of ideas. Thanks for your time.

(btw, i got an audigy as well)

if ur trying to use the digital out you have to tell the sound card u are using it. if ur using the analog outputs, u have to tell the soundcard ur using analog. i don't know what the default is, but here's how ya check it:

double click ur volume icon in the taskbar (the little speaker) under options, make sure advance controls is selected (there will be a check mark) if it's selected, there will be an "Advanced" button on the bottom left. click it and check the box labeled "Digital Output Only" to the correct setting (checked for digital, and unchecked for analog)

i had the same problem until after click millions of buttons i found that check mark...i hope it helps any!

-if it's not broken, fix it anyway-
