gsoneill@citlink.net
Howdy again. I finally have the serial number(s) from the KP-201 speakers that i recently purchased: 90029925 & 90029925. The seller insists that he purchased them in 1984, possibly 1985 and that the model number is KP-201, not KP-201 II. Can anyone help identify the year that these were manufactured? i would guess 1990 based on the serial number but this guy insists they are from the mid-eighties. thanks in advance. sean
justin_tx_16
1984-1989 YY WW #### 89281234 so they would be from 1990, week 2 of 1990. Seems kinda young to me... it is not positive that 1989 wsa the last year for that format so they could be 1990's, but if they were, they would more likely have a format of this... 1990-1997 DOY Y2Y1 #### 135791234 Where they would be of the 900th day of the year, which does not work either. So, I would say, 1990 KP-201's from January 7-14. Just a guess though. I don' know the dates they were made, normally that info is on the klipsch site... not this time ;( ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
IndyKlipschFan
Justin. FYI I have been told on many occasions that the industrial line does not always correspond to the real info we generally use in deciphering the Klipsch code on the speakers. That said..Kp201's were made at that time..And yes are more desireable than the KP201 II's. Let me know what you thought gsoneill.

gsoneill@citlink.net
Indy and Justin, FYI the mids on the KP-201's i just picked up are K-53's and the tweeters are K-79's. I havent had a chance to look at the woofers but they are most likely 22E or 24E. can either one of you guys confirm that these are exponential and not tractrix? thanks, gso
