t-man
My KSW12 has a humming / buzzing sound (not very loud, but noticeable within 6 feet of it with power off. Even when I turn it off, it still does this. I've tried plugging it into various outlets, and still consistent. This is a non grounded plug, and I've tried in the wall, as well as into a surge protector. No difference. Is there something wrong with the amplifier? Thanks, T-man
boa12
does it do it the same or as bad when u switch the receiver/preamp to stereo mode? if not, then it's probably those noisy dsp in the preamp. i get some sub hum too w/ this sony until i switch to stereo mode - then it disappears. ------------------ Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 subwoofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on! t-man
Like I said...it does this with the power off. That includes my reciever, too. Strange.
boa12
t-man, i guess when u said "it", you meant "them" probably disappears when u unplug the sub? did it just start when u went from line level to speaker level connects?
t-man
Boa12, Yes..it dissapears when the sub is unplugged. This is the only way it dissapears. This is true of using the line inputs as well as speaker wire. Maybe BobG can help. Do I need to take it in for service? Anybody else have this trouble with the newer un-grounded power cords?
