Kg4 speakers and amp advice

Recommended Posts

I am purchasing a pair of Kg4's and I'm concerned that the amp I have might be too much power. The amp in question is the Emotiva XPA-200. 150 watts / channel; into 8 Ohms and 240 watts / channel; into 4 Ohms. The amp will be connected to a Bozak CMA 10 2DL vintage rotary mixer / pre-amp. Since I live in a small apartment I won't be able to play too loud.

Will the amp be too much power for the speakers or will I be OK as long as I keep the master volume low on the mixer/pre amp? I don't want to risk damaging these amazing speakers. I believe the Kg4's are 6 ohm or 4 ohm.

Thank you for your help!

The early KG4 had a 0.9A PTC tweeter protection device.

It was too high of a current to protect the tweeter.

If you want to play really loud, I suggest replacing the PTC with a 211-2 automotive lamp.
