New KG4 guy Posted June 4, 2017 Share Posted June 4, 2017 I am purchasing a pair of Kg4's and I'm concerned that the amp I have might be too much power. The amp in question is the Emotiva XPA-200. 150 watts / channel; into 8 Ohms and 240 watts / channel; into 4 Ohms. The amp will be connected to a Bozak CMA 10 2DL vintage rotary mixer / pre-amp. Since I live in a small apartment I won't be able to play too loud. Will the amp be too much power for the speakers or will I be OK as long as I keep the master volume low on the mixer/pre amp? I don't want to risk damaging these amazing speakers. I believe the Kg4's are 6 ohm or 4 ohm. Thank you for your help! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Unless you're very hard of hearing, I don't think you'll need to worry about blowing them. Your ears will probably get tired before they get too loud. djk Posted June 5, 2017 Share Posted June 5, 2017 The early KG4 had a 0.9A PTC tweeter protection device. It was too high of a current to protect the tweeter.
