Q Sound

Let me try this post in this forum. I guess my level of equipment and level of understanding didn't get much attention over in the 2 channel room. Guess I'm not tubey enough. Does anyone one hear know much about Q sound technology. Again, my system in nothing to write about in the 2 channel forum, but "Amused To Death" by Waters amazes me. The fact that you can take sound that originates from a source in front of you... and have it sneak up behind you before you hear it going by your ear the first time is a sonic marvel to me. Any thoughts or other Q sound recordings worth mentioning?

timerr, I beleive Q-Sound was developed by Hughes Electronics to mimic the Holograhic sounnd field that George Carver has with his Holgraphic Generators. To acheive the desired effects you must place your speakers 2-4 feet apart and at least 4 feet from the rear wall. Now, Your listening position must be directly in the sweet spot. If your head is out of the sweet spot by as little as 1/8" you will only hear conventional stereo. It works but only one person can hear it. Pink Floyd's "The Last Cut" is in Q-Sound. E Remember, all parameters must be correct or you want hear it. Thiis is not surround but it is a 3dimentional sound field. It never caught on because of the troublsome set-up and the rigid listening position.
