Big Ben
Hi Guy's, Well I was in the process of getting ready to add two CS Ultras on Monday to my existing two RSW15's and now I am getting a low level thump out of my RSW15's, when I mute the sound on my Marantz SR-19EX. Also does it when changing sound modes etc. As of this evening, it has never done this before. I have reconnected everything twice to make sure I did no do something stupid but I cannot figure this out. I have tried one RSW at a time and then both subs. It is not an RSW15 problem, I think it might be the Marantz sub out. I seems very strange that it would just start doing this. I hope I have done something stupid. What do ya think? prodj101
well, I think it's pretty unlikely that both subs would have the defect at exactly the same time. it prob is something with the marents. is the buzz the kind of buzz that it makes when you touch your finger to the end of the RCA connection? Big Ben
No it is not a buzz (feed back problem) more of a thump at a low level. When the SR-19EX is at zero volume and you enable and disable the mute, you get it every time. It happens at any volume level though. I just tried completely resetting the SR-19EX to the factory defaults and it made no difference at all. I guess it has to be the receiver sub out. When I get my CS Ultra's + S1000 amp on Monday I will be able to do some more testing. Ben
prodj101
just plug your sub into a different source. Than you'll know sooner
Big Ben
Good idea, Tried out F L/R pre-out and all is OK, no thump. So the sub pre-out is baked. I am not going to send it away for service as it will most likely come back worse than before plus the cost. Thanks very much. Gotta love these forums eh!
