Fordman
I just picked up a VTF-2(awesome sub)and I have a problem with it.When I plug in my sub cable it has a hum to it.When I switch it from internal x-over to external x-over it gets really bad.The first thing I tried was a new cable but that didnt work. When I pull out the sub cable from the back of my reciever and touch the cable with my finger it makes the sub hum.I dont know what else to try.Any suggestions? TheEAR
The hum you hear when you touch the signal cable is normal, any powered sub will buzz(hum)when the sub is powerd and the gain is over zero and you touch the conector. Does your sub buzz when no cable is coinected, just the sub powered? When the cable is conected, and does not conect to your receiver sub out, does it buzz? Fordman
Ear-It does not hum if the cable is not connected to the sub.No humming if it is just plugged in.As soon as I connect the sub cable to the inputs of the sub it hums.Is that confusing? boa12
if it has a 3-prong power plug, use a 3:2 adapter/cheater plug.
Fordman
Yes it is a 3 prong.Could you please explain what you mean. Thanks!!
boa12
sounds like a ground loop. just go to the hardware store & get an adapter for like 70 cents that makes the 3 prong into a 2 (removes the safety ground). or do a search on here for "ground loop" for more info. btw, do you also have cable or dbs tv connected to your sys in some way? TheEAR
Yep get the cheater 3 to 2 prong adaptor.Should cure your problem. Most of the time it does.
