The toggles are for auto on, phase and internal crossover. Not necessarily in that order.

Auto On will make the sub turn on and off based on the presence of a signal. It's a good mode to use but if you'll not use the system for >30 days, turn that to off, or merely unplug the sub. Saves on the tiny amount of power it takes to keep the sub in the 'sleep' mode.

The phase switch determines whether the active driver moves forward or backward in response to a positive going signal from your amp. Set this in the position that makes more bass at your listening position when the full system (sub plus LCR) are playing.

The crossover switch allows you to eliminate the internal low pass crossover. If you set this to off, your receiver better be filtering the signal sent to the sub. Otherwise, you'll send mids and highs to the sub and it will try to reproduce them.
