Digital Cable Update

just to get something in dolby digital 5.1 from an alternative source than the old dvdp/blockbuster route, i did go & get showtime on my AOL Time Warner Digital subscription. like you DBS guys said - ther're a bunch of different showtime channels & most of em broadcast in 5.1.

got HBO channels too, but they're not with it at all for 5.1 (ironic that AOL TW owns HBO). & none of their PPV channels are 5.1 yet.

anyway the 5.1 from cable or sat sounds great

& is a definite alternative for 5.1 sound anyway. hopefully they're not too far from offering digital video on demand with all the features & benefits of dvd at the same or lower prices. then after i return the last dvd & pay my last late charge, i'll

wave goodbye to blockbuster (as I mumble obsenities under my breath) biggrin.gif

They don't offer 5.1 with any of their PPV? That's to bad.

Dishnetwork has a few PPV now showing with Dolby Digital and it looks like most of the new ones are becoming available this way. I think in the near future most broadcasts on PPV will be with 5.1. Digital cable will follow I'm sure. Now all I need is a DVDR and life will be perfect!!!

no go on ppv steve. well at least for all the action ppv movies that would have to be 5.1 that i've watched. they use InDemand for ppv. don't know if that's their own or an outside broadcaster.

btw, is that your real name or did u go to OR State or maybe both biggrin.gif
