IgX
Hi All, Just recently I bought a new house and am now in the process of planning. I'm considering installing 4 ceiling speakers as Atmos addition to my 5.1 Reference Premiere setup. Now that I'm doing some preparation and reading I found a lot of websites stating that a backbox should be used for/with ceiling speakers. However, unfortunately I can hardly find any information if this also counts for products from klipsch, particularly for for example the 160rpc which I currently have shortlisted as the addition. Is there someone who may be able to answer the question; is it recommended (also) for the 160rpc to use a backbox with it? I tried searching the forum but couldn't really find a straightforward answer. I hope someone may be able to help me. https://www.klipsch.com/products/pro-160rpc-in-ceiling-speaker https://www.klipsch.com/architectural-accessories Edited September 30, 2021 by IgX
MTMarshall
Yes. Backer boxes will always be super beneficial to the quality and efficiency of the sound, and to sound isolation. I just built 6 boxes for my PRO-180RPC's. Used MDF and cement board with Green Glue. Caulk the seams with acoustical, throw some poly fill in there, and you're golden. Something is better than nothing. https://www.soundproofingcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/CIM-backer-box-installation-web.pdf
